Happy Friday! This week our "freebie" idea is a treat holder. Look for a link at the end of this post for another idea (that is NOT food) using this holder. With the holidays fast approaching, we all like to give fun favors and this is a quick and easy idea.
First, gather your supplies: card stock, patterned paper, stamps, ink, punch, brad, Exact-o knife
Next, cut and score your card stock - we used vanilla - 2-1/2" x 10". Score at 2", 2-1/2", 6", 8", 8-1/2".
Using an Exact-o knife, cut a slit just large enough for your treat. We used Trident gum but small candy bars work too. Your slit is cut in the second 1/2" scored piece. (The one between 8 and 8-1/2") This puts the slit at the bottom of the holder where it belongs.
Next, you need to add glue to the bottom 2" section. This then folds over and adheres to the 3-1/2" scored section. This might sound confusing BUT once you have your scored piece in front of you, you will see how easy it all fits together.
Now, you ready to add your embellishments. We added a small strip of patterned paper on the inside...this is optional.
Here is what the treat looks like in the carved out slot.
We used patterned paper from October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker. We added a sentiment from Stampin' Up!'s Got Treats stamp set. We stamped it on white and layered it on red and black. Then, added a small yellow flower that has a black brad in the center.
Thanks for stopping and as promised, check out this link for a great masculine gift idea using this same "holder." Two Paper Divas - Melissa and Gayla
