With Christmas just around the corner...next week....we thought we would show you a great way to make a gift card holder from the SU! Stocking die. You can use this same idea with any die shape.
Let's gather all our supplies: stocking die, card stock, patterned paper, embossing folder, ribbon
Die cut two whole stocking pieces from vanilla card stock and a half of one as well. Fold down a small piece, about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the back stocking. Apply Sticky Strip to the top.
If you want to emboss the stocking, do the top stocking only before you put together the project. The small half piece is what you will use to create the inside pocket to hold your gift card or money.
Run a small bead of glue around the stocking piece...everywhere BUT the top.
Apply this piece to the back stocking...this will be the inside pocket. You can see we embossed this small piece as well. If you don't plan to add another layer with a sentiment, you might not want to do this as it is harder to write on. We also, sponged all our pieces with Creamy Caramel.
You are now ready to attach the front and back pieces. Remove the protective covering from the tape and line up the two stockings.
You can see the the 1/2" fold allows the card to open and close easily. This also keeps the front nice and finished looking.
If you would like to add a ribbon "loop", now would be the time to do it...before you add the patterned paper pieces along the stocking top. We also sponged the ribbon.
Add the patterned paper pieces to the front stocking. The top pieces will cover where the ribbon is attached.
It is now ready for you gift card or money. Leave off the inside pocket piece and this would be an adorable Christmas card.
You can make these stocking hang either direction....you can see our other sample is facing the opposite. Make a garland of these to hang from a fireplace mantle....how fun.
Have a great weekend. We hope you all are finished or almost finished with the shopping, baking, wrapping and stamping. Two Paper Divas - Melissa and Gayla
