Recently we made these vintage bird ornaments and thought they would be a great thing to share for these week's Freebie Friday.

To create this vintage ornament, you will need the following supplies: sheet music (old book pages would be fun, too), Mod Podge, glitter, tea-dyed tag, jingle bell, gold cording

To create our vintage tag, we used one of the small tea-dyed tags we had. We stamped the "merry" from the SU! set, Tiny Tags, in black. We then threaded a jingle bell on the tag string....small pieces of greenery would be fun to add to this bird ornament.

Next, trace and cut out three birds and three wings from old sheet music. The pattern and step-by-step directions can be obtained by using the "Printer Friendly" button below. If you want to sponge your pieces as we did, you need to do that before adding Mod Podge. Coat all six pieces with a thin coat of Mod Podge....we used the sparkle Mod Podge.

Add another layer of Mod Podge over the bird and wing that will be your top pieces and glitter while wet.

Once the pieces are dry, you can put a little curl in his tail by wrapping it around something round like this stylus or a pencil.

To assemble the pieces, add pop dots to the bird's body...we used three on the body itself.

Layer all three bird bodies and do the same with the wings. Add the wing with pop dots, too.

To make the hanger we used about 8" of gold cording and attached it to the back of the bird and covered the ends with a 1" circle punched from the scrap sheet music.

That's it! So simple but oh, so vintage. You can use all sorts of paper mediums to create images for any theme. Get busy and create some fun ornaments for your tree, packages or a wreath.

We have added a printer friendly button below that has all the steps and the pattern for the ornament.

Thanks for stopping today and we hop you have enjoyed this project!
